Introduction

CPGMap, (standing for Comparative Physical and Genetic Map), is a Java graphical programming component for visualising comparative genome mapping data. The image below shows a CPGMap created from A. thaliana data:

Two sets of double maps are shown. The double map on the left shows a linkage map and a physical map for chromosome four. The double map on the right shows similar maps for chromosome five. A list of the loci names which are mapped on both chromosomes are shown down the centre of each double map. Lines connect the loci names to the positions on either map.

CPGMap is also capable of showing single maps. A single map is similar to the above double maps but only a physical or linkage map is shown for each chromosome. The image below shows an example of a single map.

This image shows a number of linkage groups that have been taken from a Lolium perenne/Lolium multiflorum mapping family.

The next section gives an explanation to why this is a comparative genome mapping tool.
